Pregnancy Brain

There's this term that you can find in a variety of books on pregnancy that discusses the scatterbrainedness (of course that's a word, I don't go around just making them up randomly!) of pregnant women.  This highly sophisticated issue facing most pregnant women is known as "Pregnancy Brain".  I don't know where it came from exactly, but I'm in the throes of it now.

For example, yesterday I was doing laundry, after switching loads around, I headed to my bedroom to get a new load, got into the bathroom doorway and thought "Now what am I doing and why did I come back here?"  I had to leave the room before I remembered the original purpose of going to my room.  Once I had an armful of laundry, headed toward the laundry room, I somehow found myself standing in front of my kitchen trash can about to throw away all of our clothes!  Thankfully I stopped myself before anything got pitched.

It's been this way for the past week or so.  I'm really hoping that it's not going to be in place for the next 6 months.  Atleast Garrett is old enough to keep me from misplacing him somehow.  :)

Speaking of Garrett, his current favorite phrase is "oh my gosh".  And he says it with much emphasis and feeling.  In the scheme of things, that's certainly not the worst thing that he could be saying, however, it's just a little funny to me to hear a 3 year old saying that in his little 3 year old voice.  Keith is insistent that we put a stop to it, but I'm going to try the route of just ignoring it and maybe he'll eventually quit saying it.  If anybody has any other tips to encourage him to find something more age appropriate to say, I would love to hear them!

Something else that he's been saying frequently is "neato mosquito".  It took me a while to figure out where that was coming from.  I do not use that term (I can't say that about oh my gosh though).  But I finally saw a video preview on his Thomas movie where a character says it.  He seriously picks up on EVERYTHING!  We really have to watch ourselves.  He'll be playing and then all of the sudden he's parroting back things he's hearing off the TV.

Another thing he's learned that I find cute, but no one else probably will, is the majority of the words to David Cook's song "Light On".  He's hilarious when he sings it and puts a lot of feeling in his performance.  I promise he also knows all the words to "Jesus Loves Me", "Jingle Bells", and many other child appropriate songs as well.

With the exception of really testing the boundaries lately, I'm thoroughly enjoying his current age.  He's a lot of fun as well as capable of doing lots of things for himself, which is wonderful.  Now if he would just stop arguing with me and do what I say...

Well, I have learned that when I make a big deal out of Andrew saying something he shouldn't he just keeps saying it more....until a friend recommended vinegar. Yes a spoonfull of apple cider vinegar will put a stop to saying things they shouldn't. Now my 3 year old was saying something worse than than Garrett so he warrented the treatment...I don't think that "oh my gosh" does.

I remember having that too. Especially with Landon, so I'm not sure if it's pregnancy brain or 30's brain!! Maybe a little of both!

Katelyn used to say "omg" all the time and we would actually make a big deal of it b/c we thought it was cute(sorry Keith!) but she did eventually stop saying it. Just like calling Franco "caca". I think Alicia's right! I'm not pregnant but I constantly don't know why I am doing what I'm doing etc. That's funny that you almost threw out your clothes though! LOL

I'm glad to know that what I'm going through has a name!! I'm so out of it at school, I'm constantly walking back and forth from the front of the room to the back of the room trying to remember what I was supposed to do. It's really frustrating!! I think it's cute that he says "omg" however, I may feel differently when my kids start saying it! lol

I remember when Katelyn was saying "omg". We did think it was cute, but probably shouldn't have. She doesn't say it anymore now. Maybe Garrett will quit saying it on his own. The picture of him was really cute!
