Baby Update

I had another baby appointment this morning and everything went well.  When I checked in, the receptionist asked me if I wanted the orange or fruit-punch flavored glucose drink for my glucose test.  I've never tried the fruit-punch flavored one, and I am not the type of person for surprises, especially when the surprise is an extra sugary drink, first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach.  So I went with the gross orange one that I remembered from my last pregnancy.  They brought me a small bottle full of the drink and said I had 5 minutes to chug it.  I got it down pretty quickly and then sat and read a parenting magazine until they called my name.  I'm not sure why ob/gyn's waiting rooms are full of parenting magazines, but I couldn't find "People" to save my life.

My weight is down another 3 lbs (16 pounds total now, which is just insane, I'll be regaining all that as soon as Cooper's born, I can almost guarantee it) and my BP is normal.  My doctor found the heartbeat right away and my mind went blank when he asked me if I had any questions.  I had several, but completely forgot them at that moment.  I'm going to have to start writing them down for future reference.

The funny part was when I was in the waiting room for wait #2, and my doctor's nurse came to the door and said "Lydia".  So, naturally, I stood and walked to her.  Turns out, my doctor has another ob patient named Lydia who's due almost the same time that I am because today was also her glucose test.  That's just weird.  Probably not so weird to those named Jane or Mary, but when your name is Lydia, it's weird.

So now I'm crossing my fingers that everything is good from this bloodwork so I don't have to do the 3 hour test.

I'm in hopes that we're all on the mend in our house.  With the exception of a stopped up nose, I'm feeling much better and Garrett only has an occasional cough.

We're also very close to being able to move Garrett into his new room.  The painting is done, the curtain rod is up (just waiting on the curtains to be delivered this week), everything is vacuumed.  Now I just need to sort through and organize all his toys and books.  As soon as that's done, we'll move him over.  I think he's excited about it.  And I'm excited to have some semblance of order to his toys and things.  They've gotten a little out of hand lately.

I'm totally dreading the glucose test. I'm assuming mine will be at my next appointment. I have my 21 week appointment today! I guess we'll be scheduling our appointments a day apart from now on until you have Cooper. :) I had to take the glucose test several years ago when the doctors were trying to figure out what was wrong with my stomach. It was awful and I don't look forward to having to take it.

Have you had a lot of swelling in your hands? I have. It's really irritating me. I'm going to ask my doctor about it today. I do the same thing you did, I always have lots of questions and then when she asks me if I have any, my mind goes blank. This time I wrote them down since they are important questions that will be affecting the end of my school year.

I'm glad everything is going well for you. That's awesome that you're losing weight with pregnancy! lol. I'm gaining 2 pounds every month, on the dot. We'll see if I keep that trend up here in about 30 minutes. It's almost 2 now and my appointment is at 2:30 but my doctor's office is literally not even a mile down the road from me. I can almost see the hospital from my apartment.

They're taking another peek today to make sure I really am having a girl. I hope it is because now my mind is set on having a girl so I would have to change my whole mentality if I find out it's actually a boy. I won't be disappointed though, I would just rather not have to change directions completely here on my planning! :)

my next appoitnment IS on the 31st! lol. That's so funny! You are almost to the point where you come in every two weeks right? I'm not looking forward to that but I did discover that my office can take appointments till 4pm so I really only need someone to watch my last class for the last few minutes and then I can leave early and not get docked pay. The more I can save this year the more days I'll have to put towards my maternity leave.

That's awesome about your weight loss! That seems to be the only way I lose weight too :o) Glad to hear everything is going well. It will be fun to have Cooper's room done and Garrett sleeping in his big boy room.
