Week 5 Recap

When I got on the scales this morning, I was very excited to see 3 more pounds gone! So that brings my total weight loss to 13 pounds in 5 weeks. I tried to stay focused on eating well because it's been a bit of a hectic week. I didn't get to Shred any and only walked on the treadmill 3 times.

I helped throw a surprise baby shower for Garrett's teacher on Tuesday. So Monday and Tuesday were both hectic. Early Thursday morning, snow started falling heavily in our area, so I kept Garrett at home in order to avoid having to get in and out in it. In a 24 hour period, we got 12 inches of snow, which is a new record for the DFW area. It's been so fun! Keith stayed home today, so we got to get out and build a snowman and take some pictures of all the snow. If we're friends on Facebook, then I've shared several over there. But here's one.

Everyone has commented on how big of a snowman it is. We didn't intend to make it so big, Keith and Garrett just got carried away rolling the snowball around the yard. So we just made a smaller ball for the head and called it done.

Back to my weight loss, I have to say that I'm feeling very encouraged right now. Which is so nice, because I know exactly how it feels to struggle with weight, I've done so my entire life. For whatever reason, it's all working for me right now, and for that I'm grateful. I've tried basically every diet out there and have even done WW before. The first time I did it, I lost 25 pounds, but then our house got hit by a tornado and that pretty much threw me off completely. It took us a good 3 months to get everything back to normal and that consumed all my free time that I could have spent exercising and attempting to eat right. So here's hoping that I'll be able to stay focused on this weight loss attempt and actually have the ultimate success. Which would be to get down to my goal weight and stay there.

Wow! That is one HUGE snow man! Looks like you guys had a great time in the snow. I did my best to stay inside. After living in NH and hating the snow, I try to avoid it even in the rare occasion that we get it here in Texas.

That's awesome that you've lost 13 pounds! Way to go! I'm actually about to start a diet that two other girls at work are doing. We are doing the Flat Belly Diet, which is a very reasonable diet. I got the book today. I realize that I'm not going to lose weight as quickly as I would like if I don't change my diet drastically and since I have no discipline in that area, I need an actual diet to follow. Since I can't afford WW, I am doing this diet with the girls and the only cost is the book, which I got at Half-Priced books. Anyways, maybe by the family reunion we'll all be many pounds lighter! Keep up the good work!

That was an amazing snow man! I'm so happy to hear how encouraged you are about your weight loss and the whole process. It's encouraging me! I'm starting to get into a good groove of exercising. I still hate it and have to force myself to do it. I'm hoping to start seeing some good results soon. The portion control has been hard but I'm doing better at it
Keep it up! A pound at a time!

That's great that you've lost 13 pounds in five weeks! I've lost 15 pounds in three months so you are doing way better than me! :) For some reason WW has actually made me less motivated and more wanting to eat whatever I want so I'm thinking I'll be done with it when my three months are up. My main thing is portion control anyway and I don't really need the WW site to tell me what I'm supposed to do with that. I'm still losing about a pound a week even when I don't record what I eat in the weight tracker so I'm just going to go with that. Doing the weight tracker and even eating the exact points I'm allowed wasn't making me lose any extra weight than I was doing on my own anyway. It's a little frustrating for me b/c I was hoping to lose more than just one pound a week but I'm not sure what else to do at this point to bump that up. It sounds like it's all working great for you though! I'm so excited for you!

Congratulations on your weight loss Lydia! I know how hard it is since I've struggled with weight all my life too. You're doing great! WW worked real well for me the first time. I don't think it would work that well again right now and I don't know why. Keep up the good work:)
