Today is the first day of Weight Watchers/exercise-apalooza. So far so good. Of course I've only been up for 3 and a half hours, but I've managed to stay on track thus far. I weighed in this morning (not gonna tell you that...), logged it in to Weight Watchers, ate my Smart Ones breakfast (I don't plan on buying a WW meal for every meal I eat, but I thought it would help smooth the transition if I had a few on hand for the first week or so, and I'll probably still buy one for my lunches because that's the hardest meal for me to eat healthy.) In case you aren't familiar with WW or haven't done it in a long time, they now have frozen meals (a la Lean Cuisine) that already have a point value assigned to them. And WW gives you a daily point allotment based on your current weight, so knowing exactly how many points a meal is, helps tremendously in the beginning when you're still figuring out portions and how to figure points. Though WW new online program really takes the guess work out of calculating your points now. I've done this program before, but it was 7 years ago and I didn't join online, I just calculated points on my own because they have a formula you can use to do just that.
Anyway, I've eaten my 4 point breakfast quesadilla, drank a good bit of water, and walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill. I'll slowly work my way up to further distances, but I thought that was a good start for someone who hasn't exercised in a long time. Other than playing Wii of course, and let's face it, with most Wii games, you can play them sitting down, so it's really not that much of a workout.
My tentative exercise plan is to walk on the treadmill Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, do The Shred workout on Tuesdays and Thursdays while occasionally mixing in Wii Fit exercises to change things up. (Pretty much every woman at my church is doing The Shred right now, so when I saw it for sale on Amazon I figured "What the heck?" and decided to order it and give it a shot. It's supposed to be pretty short, but really good with strength training, cardio, and abs all being worked on.)
I will check in next Monday to report the weight I've (hopefully) lost and how my exercise and eating habits have been throughout this week. If anyone else is doing some sort of weight loss or exercise program, let me know! We can keep each other motivated.

That's great that you're doing this Lydia! I've never done WW but I hear it's really streamlined and easy to track now. It might be something I will do in the future when I have money for it. I'm starting my bootcamp on the 20th so I will definitely work with you and try to keep you motivated! I hope I dont DIE doing this bootcamp. I can't even imagine! 1.5 miles is really good if you haven't been working out in a long time. Plus, you can always add a .5 incline which doesn't seem like much but it burns just slightly more calories and won't make you feel like you're dying. Then, each week or even couple of weeks you can increase the incline by .5 again to keep challenging yourself. I wish I had a treadmill or elyptical here at my house. I would definitely use it. I've heard great things about The Shred. I might have to try to find it at Half Priced Books or something. Good luck! Look forward to hearing your progress next week!
